What IS Hypnosis?
The BEST definition of Hypnosis I have ever heard is….
“We help people change their minds.”
Hypnosis is fast, easy, safe and effective and it helps many to change limiting beliefs and improve health and well-being.
Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind, the 90% of the part of your mind that holds all of our memories, patterns, habits and beliefs.
Hypnosis allows us to communicate with the subconscious mind while the conscious mind is in a relaxed state. Hypnosis is similar to a “trance state” that we all go in and out of daily. Similar to when we are watching tv, zoning out, or day-dreaming. In this state, we can quiet the conscious “waking” mind so we can can “talk” to the subconscious mind.
Your conscious mind may know what you want to change but it is working against the subconscious mind that keeps repeating the same patterns and habits.
In this focused altered state,we can clear internal blocks, negative beliefs, negative self-talk or old patterns and behaviors that prevent you from living your life to your full potential. Hypnosis gets the subconscious mind to agree with the conscious mind to create lasting change.
Hypnosis has been extensively studied and it is one of the oldest healing modalities still used today.
- The American Medical Association Approved hypnosis for use in medicine in 1958.
- The National Institute of Health (NIH) has credible research supporting hypnosis for medical and psychological healing.
Studies show that hypnosis can be effective in treating everything from chronic pain to poor study habits. Chances are it can work for you.
Hypnotherapy has a 93% recovery after 6 sessions!
Behavioral Therapy has a 72% recovery after 22 sessions
Psychoanalysis has a 38% recovery after 600 sessions

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make me do something I don’t want to do?
No. Your subconscious mind holds all of your morals and values. In order to “do something’ it has to be in agreement with your belief system otherwise the suggestion will be rejected.
Will I share my secrets with you?
No. You will not say anything you don’t want to say or do anything you don’t want too.
What is a typical session like?
The first session lasts approximately 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions last 60-90 minutes. We start with information about the session and hypnosis, an interview to discuss your desired outcome then we have the hypnosis session. In the hypnosis session, you sit in a comfortable chair, close your eyes, and listen to me talk. Yes, you will hear what I am saying. After the hypnosis session I will assign brief exercises that take a few minutes each day but will reinforce what we did in the session.
Will I be asleep or unconscious during the session?
You will be aware of what is going on although your mind may wander like it does during the day when you are in meeting, driving or daydreaming. In some cases we will have a conversation while you are in hypnosis.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
No. Those who are very young, psychotic or confused or who don’t want to be hypnotized can’t be.
Everyone has experienced hypnosis as there are many levels of the hypnotic state. The hypnotic state has similar brain waves as when you are getting ready to fall asleep, although you are not asleep in hypnosis. Desired outcomes can be achieved in light, medium, and deep levels of the hypnotic.state. Most work can be done in the light state.
Is hypnosis dangerous?
It is safe and effective. It can be misused if the practitioner is not trained properly. At Mindful Living Hypnosis I follow the client code of conduct from the National Guild of Hypnotist.
Do insurance companies cover hypnosis?
Generally not. I suggest that you think of hypnosis as a service that you will pay for yourself. This will also mean that when you sign up for hypnosis you are highly committed and value the services you will receive.
Do you give guarantees that this will work?
Hypnosis is based on your desire for change. If you truly want change, hypnosis is very effective and it will increase your success considerably. Hypnosis also works best when it is reinforced. Reason it is important to do the exercises provided and to listen to the MP3 that you receive.
