Hypnosis weight loss facts you should know about!
Every day I get questions about hypnosis for weight loss. The biggest question I get is “Will it work?” It is a great question and the answer is Yes and for some…No.
For many it works….and quite well. However, before you jump on the next diet phase, you should understand how hypnosis is “different” then the normal diet.
Most often we go on all types of diets and after the many failed attempts of meeting our expectations, we get frustrated, give up, start binge eating, or we feel guilty that we failed once again. It is a vicious cycle.
At Mindful Living Hypnosis I want you to lose weight and….keep it off long term.
Therefore, the weight loss program is actually a Weight Management Program.
Weight “loss” implies you are losing only weight, where management implies you losing weight AND gaining the ability to manage your weight, eating habits and lifestyle over a long period of time. With commitment to the program you can begin to take control over your eating habits and begin to make the best choices for yourself.
This is a mindset plan for change.

How does hypnosis work for weight reduction?
When you’re under hypnosis, your attention is highly focused therefore you are more responsive to suggestions including behavior changes that can aid in your weight loss. Hypnosis can help you be more mindful of your eating habits, help you decrease stress, boost your confidence & motivation, increase your willpower, modify long held eating beliefs, and reduce cravings. Everyone had different needs so it is geared to your specific situation.
Can I come in for one weight loss session?
Sorry…No. Maybe some other hypnotist will work with you on weight loss for one session, but I want you to succeed.
Weight loss is a multi-layered process with all of the beliefs and behaviors about eating being programmed in your life and in some cases from childhood. Because of this, it takes time to modify those subconscious beliefs and behaviors. Expecting to change these long held beliefs that are ingrained in your life in only one week is unrealistic for most people. The goal is that even after you finish the program you will continue with the suggestions and work you are doing.
We want to change and modify your attitude towards food…. long-term.
How long is the Weight Management Program?
It is 5 sessions or more with specific steps to help you become more healthier and in that process….lose weight. It contains hypnosis that is specific to you, downloadable MP3 that you can listen to to reinforce your sessions and self-hypnosis to keep you on track. The best way to approach the process is knowing it will take time and commitment on your part…but it is worth it.
Everyone is different so it is focused on your needs and situation. Over time you will see gradual changes taking effect.
Will I loose weight right away?
Some people do, but the best answer is probably not, however that is not a bad thing! I am not a nutritionist but they say the best weight loss is slow and steady. Since change is one of the most difficult things for us to do, it takes some time to change our behaviors. No matter what, you still need to be mindful of what you eat and commit to exercising regular. If you have resistance to exercise, we can make suggestions to start you off very slowly.
This is not a magic wand…there is still work on your part.
Do I have to abstain from certain foods?
No. You can eat what ever you want, but over time you won’t want too. For some of my clients, they simply have no desire to eat the junk food they once loved. In many occasions you eat less without feeling hungry or deprived while feeling a sense of well-being.
Will it work for me?
This brings me to the Yes and No answer.
First you need to be aware of your expectations.
In the beginning of the program we go over expectations and together we can set a realistic goal and determine ways to help you stick to the program.The people who have the best results have a slightly different mindset on weight reduction. Yes, they want to lose weight but there is a greater focus on being and feeling healthier. They also desire to have better eating habits and an exercise regime that works best for them.
These clients are also willing to put the time and commitment into the program by listen to the MP3 plus using the tools that were discussed and agreed upon in the sessions.
Reasons it might not work….
- First off, you should talk to a doctor or health practitioner to make sure you don’t have health reasons that could cause difficulty loosing weight. Talking to your doctor before staring any diet or weight reduction program is advisable.
- There are the people who are just resistant to change and want a “quick fix.” With this comes lack of motivation and commitment on their part. For them ‘nothing’ ever works and they are unwilling to make the effort.
- Technically everyone can be hypnotized (except for very small children and those with severe mental illness) so there is no physical reason for hypnosis not to work, however some people have strong resistance to hypnosis. They may have a deep seated need for control or they feel “weak minded” if they allow it, so they will not relax enough for the process. Hypnosis actually works better for those with higher IQ’s.
