There are times when we over-think…alot.
It sucks when we have a nagging thought that just keeps going round and round…like the ground hog day movie.
Well, there is one way to slow down and stop that over-active thinking part of your brain that gets you in a spinning pickle.
Envision or think of a a stop sign.
Most of us don’t like stop signs because we want to get somewhere…now.
Well, not today.
This vision of a stop sign give us a moment to collect our thoughts; to “stop” what we are doing and just be.
This works because we are subconsciously connected to the stop sign. It is natural for us to stop. Bedsides, the color red draws attention to focus, which will immediately allow us to stop what we are doing right away.
Red also provides a feeling of safety and a protection from fears and anxiety, giving us a feeling of enthusiasm and confidence. We can use this confident color as a way to “stop” on our own.
So lets add a little red to our life and gain some perspective as we “stop” and wait a second or two before reacting.
Just take in a few deep breathes and visualize or think of a stop sign.
Once done, ask yourself….
Is it clear to continue, or am I heading down a dangerous thought pattern?
p.s…you will never look at stop signs the same again. :-)
